The
Basics of Powder Coating
If you look around your
house, it won't be difficult to find at least one item that has
been powder coated. Because of it's versatility, cost, and
environmental safety, powder coating is a popular method of
"painting" metallic items.
If your house or apartment or office has central air
conditioning, chances are the vent covers on the walls or
ceiling have been powder coated. If your doors have
weather stripping around the edges, chances are they've been
powder coated. A wide variety of colors and textures are
available, with more in development every day.
What is Powder Coating?
Powder coating is
a finishing process which fuses a highly protective and
decorative finish to a wide variety of industrial and commercial
metal products. The item to be coated is cleaned
thoroughly, then a fine powder is electro-statically
applied. From there it moves into the curing oven where,
essentially, the powder melts into the desired coating.
This process can be
applied to metallic objects, small or large, in clear,
protective coats or in any color of the rainbow to add
durability to any product.
